Queen's Park vs Arbroath - Preview

Last updated : 22 December 2006 By Andyboy
We will experience the "fall out", as it was put in one Glasgow rag, of the East Stirling encounter last week in which Queen's had three players dismissed as we went down 3-1 at the National Stadium. Meanwhile, Arbroath went 2nd continuing their rich vein of form with a 4-0 thrashing of managerless Elgin City at Borough Briggs.

That Shire disaster extended our winless run to 5 games and despite missing key players we will be looking to break up that poor run with a victory over our Angus rivals tomorrow. Victory for Queen's would put us right back in the promotion mix while an Arbroath win could leave us sitting quite a bit adrift from the teams above us.

Stark has some worrying team news to contend with as well with Shaun Molloy, Stephen Reilly and Frankie Carroll out injured. Richard Sinclair, Alan Trouten and Paul Paton are all suspended also. This has prompted the Queen's boss to call three under 19 players into his first team pool. Jamie Brough, David Waters and goalscoring centre forward Chris Colquhoun have all been called up with at least one of them expected to join another youngster Paul Cairney in the Queen's sixteen.

Arbroath, however have a full squad to choose from. We have met our friends from the north east on two occasions this season with a 3-0 defeat to the Red Lichties opening up the season at Hampden Park as supersub Bryan Scott tore the Queen's defence to shreds. We did get revenge on 14th October however with a fantastic 2-1 victory. Richard Bowers and Alan Trouten got the Queen's goals that day in the Gayfield sunshine.
