Queen's Park vs Berwick Rangers

Last updated : 12 January 2007 By Andyboy
Carroll hasn't played since September and is still short of match fitness, but with Queen's not scoring more than once in a single game since 11th November's 3-0 win at Montrose, firepower is needed in the Queen's starting line up.

Some more good news is that the dreadful injury and suspension crisis which has hit Hampden over the last couple of weeks has cleared up slightly. Paul Paton, Alan Trouten and Jonny Whelan are again available for selection but Mark Cairns, Damiano Agostini, Stevie Reilly, Shaun Molloy and Tony Quinn are out.

Tomorrow's opponents Berwick Rangers finally had their long unbeaten run finished last week at Shielfield as they lost 2-0 to Falkirk in Tennent's Scottish Cup 3rd Round action. While they were losing that one our first team were enjoying a day off the field, well except Paton and Trouten who helped a QP XI to a 1-0 win over Kilsyth Ams in the Soccerwold Scottish Amateur Cup 4th Round at Lesser Hampden.

One incentive for the players will be the chance to bounce back from that gutting defeat at Cliftonhill on the 2nd of January where Pat Walker's late goal secured the points for the Dirty Rovers in a tense derby encounter in Coatbridge.

We have met Berwick twice already this season with a 1-0 defeat at Shielfield in September and a 1-0 win in October at Hampden being the results experienced. Tony Quinn's strike that day gave us a great victory, a similiar result will no doubt be welcomed in Mount Florida tomorrow.

LIKELY LINE UP
XI: David Crawford, Paul Paton, Mick Dunlop, Jonny Whelan, Richard Sinclair, Paul Cairney, Stuart Kettlewell, Steven Canning, David Weatherston, Paul Ronald, Mark Ferry

SUBS: Xander Cowie, Alan Trouten, David Waters, Frankie Carroll, Robert Dunn

Sir Francis Of Carroll returns to the Queen's squad tomorrow.
