With the sun blazing down on the Hampden turf, it was imperative that Queen's made a promising start against their more experienced amateur opponents. It couldn't have been worse however, as the large Eddlewood support were celebrating a truly marvellous goal within six minutes.
Clyde bound Mark Brown pinged a delightful 30 yard volley up and over young keeper Zander Cowie and into the net. Queen's had a lot of pressure throughout the game but were rarely making chances, Ian "Chucky" Watt came close midway through the half, before a poor piece of decision making cost Queen's a chance at goal, after Torrance pounced on an error by McLaren.
Keeper Cormack was a busy man in the second half, making great stops from Torrance, Dunlop and Henry as Queen's piled on the pressure. Eddlewood held on however to secure their first ever Amateur Cup triumph, and deny Queen's a famous victory.
