The Social Club was packed to the rafters as usual following Queen's disappointing defeat to Ayr United on Saturday, to witness the traditional end of season awards ceremony. Over 100 fans gathered to mark a succesful season, and to honour the players which have secured our place in the Second Division for another season.
The night was dominated by right sided maestro's Paul Paton and Alan Trouten, whose stunning performances have been instrumental in securing our place in Division Two. Paton, due to celebrate his 21st birthday this week, was given a perfect present, recieving both the Travel Club Player Of The Year and the QPFC Young Player Of The Year. Paton, who is speculated to have already signed a three year deal with Partick Thistle, has been a great servant to the club over the past two years, and no doubt everyone wishes him the best when he decides to ply his trade at Firhill next season.
Trouten, who has netted 14 goals this season, was also honoured for a fantastic season winning the Young Spiders Player Of The Year Award, QPFC Player Of The Year Award and the QPSA Player Of The Year Award. Trouten is also likely to go full time this summer, and its the least he deserves after three great seasons in the Black & White hoops.
Inspirational skipper Stuart Kettlewell, was also a winner on the night, with his 55 yard stunner against Cowdenbeath on the 15th March, given the QPSA Goal Of The Season Award. Ketts, captain for the past two seasons, is another man who is likely to leave Hampden in the summer due to his stunning performances throughout the campaign, and a great servant who deserves all the luck in the world, if he does decide to ply his trade away from the National Stadium next season.
