Tommy Murray gave Spiders' the lead midway through the first half as his 30 yard effort deflected into the net past the Aussie keeper. Richard Bowers added the second fifteen minutes later hitting the ball into an empty net on the volley after Paul McClory's inchperfect cross from the left wing.
Queen's blew numerous chances in the second half to bury their counterparts from Oz with Jonny Whelan the main culprit, missing some gilt edged chances as he progressively made his way up the park, but Alan Trouten added the third with 30 minutes remaining his cross from the right evaded everyone and floated into the top corner.
Sub Chris Colqhoun hit the post near the end with Trouten, Capvano and Quinn forcing acrobatic saves from the visitors goalkeeper. Whelan then somehow hit the top of the net when given a free header just inside the six yard box.
