The now skinheaded goalminder had a competent game where he dealt with everything he needed to, done well to hold two McKenzie shots in the second half. 7
2 - PAUL PATON
The young right back made good runs and delivered the ball well, but at points could not handle the potholed Firs Park surface. 6
3 - MICK DUNLOP
Crashed into hard but fair tackles as always and was good in the air but was caught out a few times by the tricky wing play of McKenzie. 6
4 - STEPHEN REILLY (C)
Solid performance where he done everything asked of him, thoughm was lucky that Shire did not capitalise on a loose pass in the second half when he was on his own at the back. 6
5 - RICHARD SINCLAIR
Like Sinclair, was solid for the vast majority of the game but did have to survive a few scares when the pitch went against him. 6
6 - ROSS CLARK
Not the best of performances by the attacking midfielder and didn't look threatening in the last third of the pitch. 5
7 - STUART KETTLEWELL
Continued his great vein of form with some great touches and crunching challenges, never gave the Shire midfield time on the ball and was always looking to support the forwards. Man of the match. 8
8 - ALAN TROUTEN (y) (off 77)
Frustating performance were nothing went right for the midfielder. Caught in posession often, lacked a killer ball and had a few good chances where he tamely shot at goal. Booked for diving. Hooked for Murray. 4
9 - DAVID WEATHERSTON (off 77)
Ran himself into the ground for the succesive second Saturday but no end product. The midweek away trips where he performed so well have clearly taken their toll. Came close when he hit the post from yards in the first half with the goal at his mercy. Subbed for Felvus. 5
10 - PAUL HARVEY (off 81)
Delivery was shocking at times and his slick football could not be played on Shire's bog of a pitch. Hooked for Quinn. 5
11 - MARK FERRY
Came closest for Queen's and nearly squeezed in a shot at the back post if it wasn't for the outstretched leg of Derek 'Pegleg' Jackson for Shire. Otherwise, always looked threatening and hit the post. 7
SUBSTITUTES
12 - TONY QUINN (on 81)Not given enough time to influence the game after just passing a late fitness test. 3
14 - TOMMY MURRAY (on 77)
Did not lack enthusiasm and got forward, but was booked for two footed tackle on Shire Trialist. 3
16 - BRYAN FELVUS (on 77)
Very enthusiastic but could not influence the game at all with the lack of good service. 3
