10 man Queen's stretched their unbeaten run to five games with a battling
1-0 victory against Elgin City at Hampden.
A few call offs threatened to distrupt plans with Alan Trouten & Zander Cowie both sent home in the early a afternoon.
So David Weatherston stepped in to the first team and bizzarely veteran Midfielder Jonny Whelan lined up as Sub Keeper.
The game started poorly for Queen's when a cross field pass found Molloy who pulled his hamstring in attempting to kick the ball. He lasted seven seconds and on came Stuart Kettlewell.
The game really began on 34 minutes. Willie Martin raced down on goal with Danny Ferry in front of him covering back , the Former Queen's forward clearly handled the ball and pulled McGinty. Martin fell to the ground and 19yr old Defender McGinty was ordered off. A very soft red card made worse by the fact Martin held an imaginary card above his head and gestured behind McGinty. Whelan took exception and lectured his former team-mate.
Queen's then started to begin their best spell of the game. Tony Quinn played the ball onto Mark Ferry's feet whose rocket shot was tipped onto the bar by Kieron Renton.
In the second half Queen's started well. But chance after chance failed to creep in until the 69th minute. David Weatherston beat two defenders on the wing before crossing for Frankie Carroll to poke home from 4yds . A strikers goal which took his tally to 16 for the season.
But Queen's did survive a late scare. DC dropped a cross from Willie Martin down to the Elgin no.9 who blasted over from three yards.
A good three points for Queen's who go to Cowdenbeath needing only a point to finish in 3rd Place.
