Queen's Park 0 - 4 Hamilton Accies

Queen's pre-season fell to it's lowest point so far with a 4-0 defeat to Hamilton Academical at The SportScotland Facilities in Largs.

Queen's lined up with a handful of changes from the side that drew with St Mirren. Ross Clark, Mark Ferry, Richard Sinclair & Bryan Felvus were replaced by Brendan McIlduff, Liam McCann, Jonny Whelan & John Weir.

John Weir came close twice in the first ten minutes due to the help of Paul Harvey. He fired a low shot past the left hand post and then headered over Harv's free-kick.

Though it was The Accies that took the lead. Pat Keogh shoved off Jonny Whelan on the edge of the box and fired the ball past the helpless Crawford.

It should have been 2-0 moments later, The Accies right winger ripped past Shaun Molloy and was felled by Whelan & Molloy. Ian Harty stepped up but David Crawford somehow stopped his well-hit penalty with a great save.

Hamilton did take the lead on 21 minutes. Harty sidefooting past Crawford after a run down the left hand side.

Queen's failed to get into the game and on 42 minutes Hamilton threatened to run away with it. Stevie Reilly attempted to knock a diving header back to Crawford, but, he headed it short and Ian Harty smacked it by the onrushing DC.

David Weatherston replaced Paul Harvey at half-time but it did not make much of a difference, as Hamilton scored again on 48 minutes. A defensive pass was intercepted by Paddy Keogh who slotted past the out of position Crawford.

Queen's began to come back into the game and both Jonny Whelan & John Weir came close with headers.

Ross Clark & Mark Ferry replaced McIlduff & McCann as the half went on and you could see the difference it had to Queen's. Ferry slotted a ball on to Weatherston who rounded the goalkeeper, Instead of shooting from a tight angle he tried to square it to Richard Bowers, but the Accies keeper recovered by grasping the ball.

A disappointing performance against our Bell's Cup Opposition, but, in two weeks time expect players like Tony Quinn, Richard Sinclair, Bryan Felvus, Mark Ferry & Ross Clark to start.
