Queen's lost out in the odd goal in five to Second Division Dumbarton at Hampden Park.
It was an early return to Hampden for Dumbarton new boy Danny Ferry alongside former spiders Jamie Smith, Graeme Connell, John Gemmell & James Allan.
Queen's made one change from the side that lost 4-1 to Falkirk, Ross Clark replacing Richard Sinclair. John Weir played Centre-Back allowing Clark to play on the Right Wing.
The first real chance of the game produced a goal, for Dumbarton even though Queen's started better. The Sons attacked down the right wing and The Striker slammed the ball past Queen's keeper David Crawford.
Queen's first chance came minutes later. The Sons keeper's kick was blocked by his own defender's head and Ross Clark had his shot deflected wide of the mark.
Five minutes into the second half Queen's were two behind thanks to a penalty. A cross from the right was missed by both Crawford and the Sons Forward who then collided innocently, The referee then pointed to the spot bizzarely. Dumbarton used this to their advantage and doubled their lead.
Ten minutes Queen's equalised with a penalty of their own. David Weatherston rounded the keeper then fired the shot at goal which was handled by the Dumbarton defender on the line. Richard Bowers slotted home the resulting penalty, reducing the deficit to one goal.
Queen's nearly equalised on the hour mark. Shaun Molloy played a through ball up the wing for Mark Ferry, whose cross/shot hit the crossbar. Coach Stark then made a triple sub. Tony Quinn, David Weatherston & Damiano Agostini came off for Bryan Felvus, Stuart Kettlewell & Jonny Whelan.
Dumbarton made it 3-1 on sixty-six minutes. A cross from the right was headed over DC and into the net by the Dumbarton forward.
On the 74th minute Queen's pulled one back. Stuart Kettlewell played the ball to Bryan Felvus twelve yards out who cooly slotted the ball under Dumbarton's defender & goalkeeper.
That was the last action of note before the final whistle in a dissapointing performance by Queen's with the final pre-season friendly against Stirling Albion only three days away.
